Health and Well-being

Our approach to health and wellbeing is broad and inclusive, allowing us to cover diverse areas, including sexual and reproductive health, adolescent health, comprehensive sexuality education, mental health, health systems improvement, health promotion, communicable and non-communicable diseases, and maternal and child health, among others. We use various approaches, including intersectional lenses to examine how multiple vulnerabilities intersect to influence health. We are interested in government commitment to financing health and developing policies and legal instruments that facilitate programs to address challenges such as adolescent pregnancy and unsafe abortions. Moreover, we seek to address neglected areas such as sexual health and sexual pleasure. Other critical and cross-cutting areas of interest are:

  • Gender equity diversity and inclusion: In all our programmes and activities, we give prominence to gender and sexual diversity and inclusion, addressing the root of exclusion and the impact of “otherness” on the social, economic, health, and psychosocial well-being of the historically marginalized.
  • Access to safe abortion: We recognise the sexual and reproductive rights of all people and conduct research and advocacy activities aimed at ensuring rights and health for everyone.
