The human environment is undergoing rapid changes that challenge human survival and health, necessitating a shift towards sustainable utilization and management of environmental resources. We make sustainable climate adaptation decisions to identify the most feasible and effective strategies for adapting to human-caused climate change. This is a cross-cutting theme for all areas of our work, from using water and energy, food ecosystems, and travel to printing papers. We acknowledge that natural disasters, environmental degradation, and biodiversity loss can devastate agriculture, cutting people off from nutritious foods and safe water. They can lead to dangerous environments and disease outbreaks and destroy the safe shelter, quality health care and education systems people require for healthy existence. E4I Africa envisions an Africa where there is a significant reduction of food being deposited in landfills, reduced carbon emissions and limited energy and water wastage. These strategies are integrated in our operations, research and programs to ensure improved nutritional status, especially for children and youth in urban and rural poor settings through increasing access to food and clean water. We engage in research that influences a better understanding of the role of gender dynamics and the environment in development planning and policy to ensure our lived environment can sustain this generation while allowing safe and healthy space for future generations. Our work seeks to assist stakeholders and strategic partners in identifying and remediating the wide range of causes of environmental risks and provides evidence to guide environmental policy and practices at all levels in the continent.
