Population growth continues to be a critical indicator of………..in Africa. Under this theme, we focus on population change variables—fertility, mortality, and migration. We illuminate population composition and address predictors of change over time. Research in population measurement is primarily concerned with the factors contributing to significant population growth in Africa, including high fertility, women’s status, unmet contraceptive needs, youth demography, early marriage and childbirth, and migration. We research how national governments appropriate the demographic transition for social development. In focusing on population dynamics, we utilize the life-course perspective, examining determinants of fertility, marriage forms, migratory patterns, and life trajectories from childhood to old age. Additionally,we focus on the changes in patterns of marriage and union formation and how the contemporary tenets of marriage influence reproductive health behaviors within unions.
